This is one of my best friends. Her name is Katie Meier.
I’ve been posting photos that I’ve taken in her many gardens. She loves plants so much, and it shows, they love her back. And I love her, too.
She was diagnosed more than a year ago with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She had a tumor that was 10 cm by 17 cm between her heart and her lungs. She is a badass survivor and one of the most inspiring, creative, encouraging, nonjudgmental, beautiful, live-loving, nurturing people I have ever met. She is also one of the most positive, and one of my most cherished. I’ve known her since we were 13 years old.
Katie moved out to Colorado after years of wanting to break free of the Midwest and pursue her dreams. She found out she had cancer shortly after. Shortly after that, her insurance was denied. She has not had coverage since, nor has the insurance company that told her she was covered, then revoked the insurance, been held accountable.
I won’t ever ask you to please, from the bottom of my heart, repost anything again. This matters more to me than I can begin to tell you. Please repost her fundme.com profile, and donate if you can. Whatever you can. And I thank you for anything that you do: http://www.gofundme.com/dhdb8
A single chemo treatment is over $7,000.00. She has required two a month at least at times. She is a gardener and works to cultivate life for a living, and yet she is threatened with a life-taking disease. But she is the strongest fighter I’ve ever seen, and a completely amazing person. If you can do anything to help her out, I’d be indebted to you. Thank you.
